Bible study on Psalm 96 for COVID-19

I asked the Lord to speak to me his thoughts about this virus. He sent me to Psalm 96. It was so wonderful as I went through it that I just wanted to share.

Psalms 96:

1 Sing to the LORD a new song; Sing to the LORD, all the earth.

Celebrate in song to the Lord. Celebrate the Lord in a new song instead of the song the world is singing right now. Sing to the Lord, all the earth—my earth in me, my nations in me.

2 Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.

Sing TO him. Sing TO Him. Don’t sing to make myself feel better, sing TO him. Sing my trust to him. Sing my fears to him. Sing my needs to him. Sing my assurance in him to him. Sing my faith in him. Sing my confidence TO HIM. Even if I don’t “feel” all these things. Sing it to him anyways.

Proclaim, declare, assert, confess with assurance to my earth the good news of his salvation in whatever the situation is that I’m facing.

Every day. Today. Tomorrow. And the next. Again and again, over and over.

3 Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.

Speak to my nations in me (my worry, fear, overthinking, anxiousness, selfishness, impatience, etc.), of how glorious and big and honorable God IS and of his wondrous deeds that he has done for me (and everyone else) in the past.

4 For great is the LORD and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.

Why? Because the Lord is GREAT and should be GREATLY praised!
He should be feared above all gods.
Corona has become a god, our fears over it has become a god, CNN has become a god, our selfish needs have become a god, our self-righteousness has become a god. On and on.
Yes, i may have to go thru what I have to go thru, but GOD is the only thing i should ultimately fear and stand in awe of. He is GREATER than all my fears and every idol!

5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the LORD made the heavens.

Fearing anything more than him is an idol, false, worthless.
My own fears, doubts, complaints, self-centeredness, even anger over others—its all idols.
The stuff my earth is looking at is all an idol.
But!
The LORD made the heavens I look up at every day!

(It’s VERY hard to look away, Lord. It is indeed consuming me and taking up alllll my thoughts. That’s where it becomes an idol. Forgive me, Papa. You made my mind. It belongs to you. It is not owned by any virus or my feelings about it all. Only you).

6 Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

Everything he has done is BEAUTIFUL! His strength and beauty are everywhere if I choose to look up!

(Help me look away from the idol, Lord. Help me look up).

7 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory of His name; Bring an offering and come into His courts.

Every nation inside me should admit and confess to the glory and ability of the Lord to triumph in me over this situation. I should bring an offering of myself, my fear and worry, and lay it down before him.

9 Worship the LORD in holy attire; Tremble before Him, all the earth. 10 Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns; Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved; He will judge the peoples with equity.”

My earth needs to put on faith and be clothed with Christ. My earth needs to tell my nations that, “The Lord reigns; and the world is firmly established by him and won’t move.”

Every trial and difficulty we face brings to light our inner selves. That’s the judgement. Judgment isn’t just punishment. It’s judging. Deciding. Like a judge deciding what is and what is not. Yes, he may give a punishment, but mostly he brings to light the truth. Tribulations bring to light the truth about us and where we are spiritually.
Which is a good thing cuz then we can see and know where we are and grow by adjusting.

11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; Let the sea roar, and all it contains; 12 Let the field exult, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy

Let my mind be glad and let my body rejoice; let the multitudes be in an uproar; but let my spirit be happy and elated and jump for joy because the Lord reigns in every part of me, then all thats upright in my earth will sing for joy before the Lord!

13 Before the LORD, for He is coming, For He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness And the peoples in His faithfulness.

Coming = coming in to attack the enemy (Strongs definition)
Our unbelieving nations in us, and our idols, are more our enemy than any virus. And God is coming to deal with those.

His eyes are roaming to and fro over all the earth to see whose heart belongs wholly to him.
