lentenrose

March 24, 2021

Hi again! As Spring-time continues to bloom around here and we're getting close to Easter, the season of Lent has been on my heart. No, we're not Catholic, but Lent can be a thoughtful pursuit for any Christian, whatever your persuasion.

Lent is a time to reflect on the Lord Jesus and what he went through and gave up to be able to offer us salvation, not only from sin, but out of Self too. It's also a time of reflecting on what we're willing to give up for him, as well as how much Self we're willing to lay down in order to have more of his Reality in our daily awareness. I think what he's been showing me is that I'm not nearly as willing to give up my Self as I believed. But, he's helping me. And that's the whole point.

He's been showing me alot about suffering (his and mine), and also about gratitude as a very productive pursuit in my life thoughts. The articles and pics below reflect those things he's shown me over the years and brought me back to again in this Lent season.

The above flower photo is called a "Lenten Rose". It bows it's head and is so beautiful. The same as we are to God when we bow to him in love, and surrender to his quiet voice in our hearts.
Blessings to you,

Suffering is a Gift

Suffering is a Gift
There’s far more to this life than trusting in Christ. There’s also suffering for him. And the suffering is as much a gift as the trusting. Philippians‬ ‭1:35 (The Message Bible) Wow. Suffering is a gift. Kinda blows the mind a bit. Lately, I keep 'happening' onto these passages about reasons for suffering. Here's another reason. Because it furthers the gospel. …

Beyond Glad: Rejoicing in Sufferings

Beyond Glad: Rejoicing in Sufferings
1 Peter 4:13 ..to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation. Sometimes I have trouble seeing my stroke as sharing in the sufferings of Christ. I mean, it's a physical happening, not something "noble" (like persecution) where I stood up for …

Living Above Our Sufferings with Him

Living Above Our Sufferings with Him
Just as God allows various gifts to the Body of Christ, so does He allow various kinds of suffering for the sake of the Body. To some, it might be persecution or imprisonment, to others sexual abuse, to others the death of a child, to others a stroke or cancer or heart attack, still others might have ongoing painful health …
