Jordan's Crossing Herbal Connections

December 13, 2023

There's alot in this issue! One new article, and lots of re-runs! It's the "colds" time of year, so I wanted to share a couple helpful articles to get through it. And then it's also Christmas, and there's 2 or 3 past articles and recipes of interest there as well.

Speaking of Christmas--just a thought. How about giving useful health items in stockings? For kids, gummy vitamins, d3 gummies, and other healthy things besides candy? Or for adults, maybe cough drops, bottles of D3, Emergen-C packets, Echinacea Tea, etc. Like I said, just a thought. šŸ˜Œ

Also, don't forget, we're taking orders for Low Carb/Sugar free dishes up through the 16th for Christmas! See our Facebook post for what all we're offering. Email me at JsCrossing@proton.me if there's something you fancy.

Also, don't forget, you can find many of our products now at the FARMacy Barn to Table Market. We hope you'll stop in there. It's such a great little store run by the Nichols Family. Lots of Farmer's Market kinds of things there to get you through the winter. Fresh milk, butter, cheese, meat, and a whole lot more. Check out their FB page and you'll see what I mean.

Christmas Blessings to you each one!

All Those Good Smellie's Disrupt Your Hormones

All Those Good Smellie's Disrupt Your Hormones
I don't know about you, but it seems like there's an inordinate amount of commercials on TV about smells. Laundry detergents, dryer beads, room scent, candles, etc. They're cute and catchy and make you feel good, but every time I see one, I can't help but shudder and cringe. All those synthesized smells, while seemingly luscious and comforting mentally and ā€¦

Ditch the Screens, Grab a Book, Heal Your Brain

Ditch the Screens, Grab a Book, Heal Your Brain
Ok. So. Iā€™ve been reading a book called, ā€œThe Shallows; What the Internet is Doing to our Brains.ā€ Itā€™s by Nicholas Carr. It was written around 2010. I havenā€™t gotten but a few chapters into it, but it already has me reeling a little bit. It SO PERFECTLY describes my sense of a lack of focus and patterns of change ā€¦

Keeping Your Body on Point and Sharp During the Sickies

Keeping Your Body on Point and Sharp During the Sickies
Flu. Boo. šŸ¤’ Thatā€™s been our lot for this last week. We weathered it with vita d, echinacea, elderberry and boneset tea, and got through it not too much the worse for wear (although boneset isnā€™t a pleasant herb to stomach šŸ„“). But I could tell I was getting a cold on top of it, so I continued with Ech ā€¦

It's "That" Time of Year Again

It's ļ¼‚Thatļ¼‚ Time of Year Again
Idk about you, but our family has been facing it's rounds of colds and flu and other nasties that this time of year always seems to bring out. The temps have been up and down and all around, and the sun keeps disappearing. Actually, the sun is much of the trouble. With our disappearing tans also comes a drop in ā€¦

Christmas Ideas for $10ish

Christmas Ideas for $10ish
I really love it AND hate it when bloggers share their Christmas list ideas. I love it cuz itā€™s fun to read though it, but hate it too cuz itā€™s all way too expensive! I mean, seriously, that Wi-Fi radiation protector doo-hicky looks awesome and I know it's healthierā€¦ but um, yea, $2000. I donā€™t think so. Thereā€™s a lot of ā€¦

Children's Simple Christmas Story

A Simple Christ-centered Christmas Story for children. www.jordanscrossing.net
Children's Simple Christmas Story by Mary Beth Wine Once upon a time there were 4 little boys. The oldest was named Jason. (names have been changed to protect the innocent. ;) lol) The next oldest was named Connor. Then there was Joshua, and his younger brother, Andrew. They were at Grandma and Grandpa's house celebrating Christmas. 1 They weren't sure ā€¦

Cranberry Wassail Holiday Recipe

Cranberry Wassail Holiday Recipe
Thereā€™s an awesome cranberry wassail recipe I wanted to share. This was a huge hit at last yearā€™s holiday gatherings. Take a one pound bag of cranberries, three cinnamon sticks, andĀ 2 tsps cloves (or allspice or pumpkin pie spice) and put it in a pan with 6 cups of water. Bring it to a good vigorous boil, then turn it ā€¦

Herbal and Essential Oil Holiday Aromas

Using Oils Wisely www.jordanscrossing.net
Wanted to share a few essential oils and spices for making your home smell wonderful over the holidays and anytime. You can use these in a diffuser if youā€™re just using oils. If youā€™ll use spices or a combination of spices and oils youā€™ll want to put them in 2-3 cups of water on your stove and simmer, or in ā€¦
